About

Quality Fit was established in 1995 by John Graham.

Having originally trained as an aircraft engineer I soon discovered that working to such strict engineering regulations did not allow any creative input. So I decided to begin the transition to becoming a cabinet maker specialising in the design and creation of bespoke furniture. This would allow me to use my engineering skills and eye for precision and detail whilst harnessing my creative flair. During a 3 year course in 'Furniture Design and Craftsmanship', I established Quality Fit.

Along with a small dedicated team of cabinet makers we specialise in making a range of fitted and freestanding furniture, including hand painted kitchens, fitted bedrooms and alcove units. From our workshop in Guildford we are well placed to serve Surrey, Sussex, London and the surrounding areas.

John and his team are proud of the fact that most commissions are either from word of mouth or repeat custom and believe this is testament to not only being passionate about what they do in producing quality furniture but also in delivering a quality service on time and to budget.

Appliances

Quality Fit can provide you with a competitive quote for all your fitted kitchen appliances, as well as sinks and taps. We very often beat on-line prices. We work with all the major brands and some quirky lesser known ones too. If you do decide to source your own appliances then all we will need are the technical drawings supplied by the manufacturer so that we can continue in creating your bespoke kitchen furniture.

Cabinetry

The cost of your made-to-measure furniture will of course vary according to your chosen style and the materials employed. For example, dovetailed drawers will require more attention than a butt-jointed drawer and solid wood will be more expensive than real wood veneers or laminate and a soft close concealed hinged door will cost less the a traditionally hinged door. However, there will be no variation in the high standard of the cabinet construction.

All the furniture we make is made-to-measure which means there is no such thing as a ‘standard’ size - any configuration is possible. We pride ourselves on precision and attention to detail so if a cabinet needs to be 548mm it will not be rounded up to 550mm for our convenience. This in turn avoids the need for ‘oversized filler panels’ ensuring every area of your room space is utilised wisely.

Costs

We do not produce ‘a range’ of furniture; everything we make is unique in its size, style & finish, therefore a one off and unique to you. Naturally, we do not aim to compete with the prices of major UK suppliers; however you will certainly find us more competitive than the bespoke companies trading from the high street. As a workshop based company we do not have the overheads of an expensive showroom, we pass these cost efficiencies on to our clients.

All the quotes we supply are laid out in a very transparent way listing all the individual elements of the project. Once accepted we never deviate from our agreed price, unless of course your specifications change.

Design

With so much design choice now available, it can often be overwhelming - paint finish or wood, traditional or contemporary, high tech or low tech, the choices are endless. Quality Fit will ask you a series of guided questions to ensure you make the right choices and are 100% confident with your finished design.

Door styles

Quality Fit supply an amazing range of door styles. Whilst our traditionally made, solid timber doors come in the various designs you would expect, our painted MDF doors, created using the most modern methods available, are available in any design imaginable and are machined from one solid slab of moisture resistant MDF. This means that a painted joint crack will never appear whatever the conditions. This type of door is worth considering if your kitchen or bedroom has under floor heating, as the heat penetrates the doors creating movement. For a small set up charge you can have a truly bespoke door style made that can never be replicated.

Drawings

Once all of the relevant room dimensions have been taken we will then produce a scaled 3D drawing. This will allow you to see exactly how your finished room or piece of furniture will look. If required, we can then modify the design of your fitted kitchen, built in wardrobes, or alcove units ensuring that you will be 100% happy with how your finished room will look.

Hand painting

When you have decided on a colour palate your furniture will be hand painted using the finest brush strokes that are synonymous with quality. Painting is a skilful element of the project and we dedicate a significant amount of time to it. Farrow & Ball paint is usually the brand we recommend unless you have an alternative quality brand in mind.

Accessories

We pride ourselves on staying up to date with what is new and innovative in the accessory market. Attending trade shows and exhibitions allows us to sort the gimmicks from a truly useful accessory. We will never recommend something just because it looks good, only if it is functional and makes your life easier, more organized or more efficient.

Pride

We are passionate about what we do in crafting quality furniture and delivering a quality service on time and to budget but don’t just take our word for it, we would be delighted to put you in touch with previous customers. Many of our commissions are either from word of mouth or repeat custom.

Showroom

We are a workshop based company and do not have a showroom. The cost of our fitted kitchens, built in wardrobes and alcove cabinets reflect this. Customers are welcome to visit the workshop by appointment.

Installation

Your fitted wardrobes, kitchen or alcove units will be professionally installed by the same team who build your furniture. The whole project is quite often built in the workshop, dismantled then re-created in your home. This allows complete efficiency on site minimizing any mess and disruption.

Areas we cover

From our workshop in Shalford near Guildford, we are well placed to serve Surrey, Sussex, London and the South East of England.

Made in Britain

We get asked more and more about where the products we supply come from and the sustainability of the materials we use. Although it is commonly accepted in the industry that a lot of the hardware such as hinges and draw runners come from Germany or Austria, of which the quality is exceptional, we are always looking out for great British products. All of the fitted furniture doors and carcasses are produced in Britain and many of the handles and door knobs too. All of the wood based products we use are from sustainable sources and adhere to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

How we work

After your initial contact we will arrange a site visit at your convenience. We will bring samples of doors and finishes based on our brief telephone discussion. Following our onsite meeting where we would have discussed in detail what you require from your fitted kitchen, bedroom wardrobes or alcove cabinets, we will go away and within two days forward a quote for the work discussed.

This will then be followed up by a 3D scaled drawing to create a base to work from. Design changes can then be made and drawings amended until you are 100% happy with the final design.

On acceptance of the quote, a fitting date will be arranged when the installation of your furniture will take place. Work on site is always carried out with the utmost care and minimum disruption.
